November 2008: ENERCON Featured in article on Energy Independence for Achieving Business Excellence Magazine
Bob Evans, ENERCON Vice President for New Plant Services, was interviewed for an article in Achieving Business Excellence Magazine. Mr. Evans talked about how ENERCON's work in the nuclear power industry supports the country's movement toward energy independence.
Mr. Evans states in the article that nuclear power represents about 20 percent of all electricity generation in the US, far behind other countries such as France, which uses nuclear power for approximately 80 percent of its electrical needs. He also talks about how the process for new plants from application preparation to power transmission can take approximately 10 years, emphasizing that it's important for the US to get into nuclear power right now. ENERCON currently works with approximately 70 percent of the 104 existing operating nuclear power plants in the US providing engineering and operations support, as well as working with utilities who are interested in adding nuclear power plants to their portfolio. ENERCON uses its integrated approach to help utilities navigate the process of pursuing new nuclear power plant licensing, design, construction, and energy generation. ENERCON got its start in 1983 helping plants transition from construction to operation. Mr. Evans points out that "after 25 years of supporting operating plants, ENERCON is one of the only major surviving services firms from that era." To read the full article click here
